Enhance Your Tag Assistant with this Chrome Extension
In conclusion, this Chrome extension offers additional features for Tag Assistant, including the ability to debug iframes and multiple windows within the same session. While it has received a mixed rating of 2.6, my personal experience and understanding of user reviews suggest that it can be a valuable tool for enhancing your GTM debugging capabilities. Remember to read the documentation and set realistic expectations for the extension's functionalities. Unlock the full potential of your Tag Assistant and take your GTM debugging to new heights with this Chrome extension.

So Google have retired the Tag Assistant that worked perfectly well and replaced with a link to your Tag Manager account. Yet another useful tool ripped out of our hands. There won't be much left to analyse anything soon.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with the old tag assistant extension which simply worked. This one is extremely glitchy, unreliable and undocumented.

I've noticed that the "Tag Assistant cannot connect" and "Google Tag not found" issues often occur when there's a mismatch between the Chrome user account and the Google account used with Tag Assistant. After troubleshooting for about 4 hours, I found that logging into Chrome with the Google account associated with GTM resolved the issue. While it's not yet clear whether the root cause lies with Chrome or Tag Assistant, further investigation is needed to determine the underlying problem.

Haven't been able to connect to any client sites using Tag Assistant for about 2 weeks.
Google refused to help me and told me to go find YouTube tutorials, as though I simply didn't understand how to use it.
Finally, I disabled this extension and Tag Assistant is connecting again!!
I've lost 10-20 hours troubleshooting and it was just this extension.
I'm using MacBook Pro latest version and Chrome latest version.
Chrome is also constantly crashing lately...

Update: The issue might be specific to Chrome on Windows, as the tool was able to detect the tag installation on Chrome on MacOS. When I tested it, the data layers were also fired up correctly. I will update the star rating when this issue is fixed. I hope this helps the developers and other users facing non-detection issues. Thanks.
This doesn't work at all. I have tried installing Google Tags manually and using a plugin. When I view the site's source code, I can see the tag properly installed, but the tool doesn't detect it at all. I tried all the possible solutions provided in their documentation to no avail, and there's no easy way to contact support, just like with all other Google products.

Just found out the solution of the issue of GTM Preview mode's window which is :-
"Could not connect to ...
A timeout occurred while attempting to connect to
https://..."
Solution - Turn of the Chrome Extension "Tiktok Pixel Helper"
Spent hours to figure out what it could be (Turned out to be a small foolish Glitch)
Also check other extensions if you still face the issue. Users experienced the same issue and found this to be useful.
Giving it 1* because Google should have made some adjustment or should have intimated about the issue. Wasted many hours just to find out a small glitch.

It doesn't replace the deprecated version. It's good for checking tags IF you have access to page's Google Tag Manager. Otherwise, you'll face "You do not have access to this container.". Well, that was already available through the preview button on GTM, so, this is basically a shortcut to that button.
Things like simply checking if a Google Ads tag was correctly installed on a client's website - a thing that the old deprecated version would just show me "a remarketing tag was found" - apparently, it's not possible.
